Grading Guide
What a grade means
A grade describes cosmetic condition only: the screen, lid, base and keyboard. It never describes how well a laptop works. Every laptop we sell, whatever its grade, passes the same full function test. Battery health is shown separately, as a number.
Our grades
Grade A Excellent
Close to new. Any marks are faint and hard to see. No marks visible on the screen when it is on.
Grade B Good
Light signs of use: small scuffs or fine scratches on the lid or base, or some shine on the keys. Nothing that affects use.
Grade C Fair
Clearly used: more noticeable scratches, scuffs or small dents. Works exactly like a Grade A unit, for less.
Brand new and open box
Brand new means unused, in its original packaging.
Open box means new and unused, but the box has been opened, for example a return or a display unit. It looks and works like new.
How we show condition
- The grade appears on the product card and the product page.
- Plain condition notes describe every mark, for example “2 mm scuff, lid corner”.
- Photos are of the actual unit, including close-ups of marks.
- The condition notes are repeated on your invoice.
If it doesn't match
If the laptop that arrives doesn’t match its grade or condition notes, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. See Returns & Refunds.
